As a self-employed counsellor l may be able to respond quickly to changes in demand for counselling sessions or meet specific need, which introduces flexibility in provision. For a self-employed school counsellor there will be no contract of employment, but a Service Level Agreement is required.

I was a secondary school teacher for 25 years working within Bedford Borough. I was also a local authority foster carer for 13+ years and through this l saw a need for access to high quality mental health services.
A mental health professional, paid term time only who is qualified to Level 5 and is a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (B.A.C.P). I am on the DBS update service, Fully insured (can provide insurance certificate), I.C.O. registered to comply with GDPR, professional supervision, sole trader so can provide invoices and am responsible for my own income tax and national insurance. I hold a L3 Safeguarding qualification. A Service Level Agreement is provided and assessment templates. I can respond quickly and flexibly if the provision changes and no tie ins for extended periods of time.
I offer a confidential space to explore therapeutically what is causing them issues, concerns and problems. As a member of the BACP l abide by the Ethical Framework.
Through my experience l am aware of the individual needs and tailor my counselling to suit each person. I work in a trauma informed way, using active listening skills and am able to offer the time to provide empathy, congruence and a non judgmental approach.
